Welfare and Equity

Studying is hard. Everyone knows that. For this reason, the MSS provides assistance to ensure you are well-equipped to stay on top of your mental and physical health. Our Welfare and Equity Officer regularly organises events to promote wellbeing and for you to destress, ranging from seminars by mental health experts to petting zoos. We also provide online resources to help you stay on track emotionally and academically.

The Welfare and Equity Officer is also responsible for maintaining a fair, safe and discrimination-free environment on-campus and in our community. They advocate for equity in all areas, including but not limited to race, culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, gender, socio-economic background, age, and family responsibility. Where appropriate, they also represent the MSS on the Guild Women’s Council. This particular responsibility is handled by a delegate as Women’s Health Representative if the WEO is not qualified to do so.
